When you sign in using Google authentication, we access only the minimum data required to create and maintain your account:

• Email address: used for account identification, authentication, and communication related to your account.

• Basic profile information (such as first name): used solely for personalization within the app (e.g., greetings).

Important:
We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, contacts, or any other Google services. We request only the permissions strictly necessary for authentication and account management.

2.2 Learning Data

We collect learning-related data generated by your use of the app, including:

• Vocabulary words and translations you save

• Progress in exercises, maps, and learning trails

• Completed lessons, scores, and activity history

• Learning preferences and goals

This data exists to personalize your learning experience and track your progress.

2.3 Interaction Data

• Exercises completed and answers provided

• Custom texts and translations you create

• Optional interactions with AI-powered features (when enabled)

2.4 Technical Data

To improve stability and performance, we may collect:

• Device type and operating system

• App usage statistics

• Error logs and crash reports

• IP address and approximate location (country-level only)

 

3. How We Use Your Data

3.1 Google User Data Usage

Google user data is used exclusively for:

• Authenticating your account and maintaining login sessions

• Associating your learning data with your account

• Providing basic personalization inside the app

• Communicating essential account-related information

We do NOT:

• Use Google user data for advertising

• Sell or share Google user data with third parties

• Use Google user data for any purpose beyond the services described here

Your learning data is used to:

• Track progress and achievements

• Generate personalized exercises and activities

• Create statistics and learning insights

• Improve the effectiveness of the learning system

3.3 AI and Automated Processing

Duke Idiomas uses AI-based technologies to enhance learning, including:

• Generating translations and alternative expressions

• Creating personalized exercises

• Analyzing text and providing feedback

Only the minimum necessary content (such as words, sentences, or short text inputs) is processed.
Personal account data (such as Google credentials or email) is never shared with AI providers.

 

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Data Storage

• Primary storage: secure cloud infrastructure (Supabase)

• Local storage: limited data stored on your device for performance and offline access

• Backups: encrypted backups for recovery purposes

4.2 Security Measures

We apply industry-standard security practices, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/SSL)

• Encrypted storage of sensitive data

• Restricted access controls

• Regular system updates and monitoring

4.3 Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account remains active.
Upon account deletion, personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where legal obligations require retention.

 

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

5.1 No Sale of Data

Duke Idiomas does not sell, rent, or trade personal data.

5.2 Service Providers

We may share limited data with trusted providers strictly to operate the app:

• Google Cloud Services: authentication and translation services

• OpenAI: AI-powered language features (when enabled)

• Supabase: database and backend infrastructure

• YouTube API: to display videos selected by the user

All providers are contractually bound to confidentiality and data protection obligations.

5.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the platform.

 

6. Your Rights and Choices

You may, at any time:

• View and update your account information

• Access your saved vocabulary and learning data

• Edit or delete stored vocabulary entries

• Request data export

• Disable optional AI features (where available)

 

7. Account Deletion

You may request account deletion directly within the app:

2. Select “Request Account Deletion”

3. Confirm the request

All associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days, except where legally required otherwise.

 

8. Children’s Privacy

Duke Idiomas is designed for general language learners and does not specifically target children under the age of 13.

If a user is under 13 years of age, the use of the application must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without appropriate consent. If such data is identified, it will be promptly deleted.

 

9. Compliance

9.1 Google API Services User Data Policy

Duke Idiomas complies with Google’s Limited Use requirements:

• Data is used only for disclosed features

• No advertising use

• No unauthorized data sharing

9.2 LGPD (Brazil)

We comply with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

9.3 GDPR (EU)

We comply with GDPR requirements for users in the European Economic Area.
